Controller Features
Open Loop vs Closed Loop
The XL200 Series Controller is available
in Open Loop and Closed Loop configurations. The difference
between the two is explained below:
An Open Loop control system consists
of an electronic length controller, such as the XL200
Series Open Loop Controller, and a material encoder.
The XL200 Series Controller reads back positioning
information from the material encoder and activates a shear
or press device at a programmed length. This type of system
relies heavily on the repeatability of the shear and/or press
devices to be accurate. See XL200

A Closed Loop control system consists of an electronic length
controller, such as the XL200CL Series Closed Loop
Controller, a material encoder, and a servo positioning
device such as a Die Accelerator or Servo Feed. These systems
should be used for applications where accuracy of +/-.030"
or better is required. The Closed Loop system differs from
the Open Loop system in that the controller reads back positioning
information from both the material and servo motor that is
either controlling the position of a die or of a feeding system.

Increase Production
The XL200 Series Controller is capable of
controlling up to sixteen machine outputs on either stationary
or flying die applications. The result is substantially increased
production. Eliminate much of the down-time experienced by
other length controllers with the XL200 Series Controller's

Production Management System
When the XL200 Series Controller is used
with Eclipse Production Management Software,
orders can be scheduled and downloaded to the shop floor,
