Cleaning Controller Screens

We are often asked how to properly clean the screens of our controllers. The information below applies to the following controllers: Pathfinder 5X00 and 6X00 series, XL200 (all variations), XL100, MP300, and MP465.

There is a lot of confusion or apprehension when it comes to cleaning the screens of our controllers, probably for fear of damaging the LCD screens. The LCD screens on our controls are protected by an overlay of very durable, scratch-resistant material. They will not be damaged by routine cleaning.

Use a clean cloth or paper towel along with an all-purpose household cleaner (Fantastic, Formula 409, etc.) to clean the controller screen.

Do not use isopropyl alcohol. This may dry out the protective material and cause cracking.

Do not use anything between isopropyl alcohol and MEK (or higher). This will cause the protective material to melt.

The keypad overlays on these controllers withstand exposure to the following chemicals, without significant visible change, for more than 24 hours duration under DIN 42 115 Part 2:

  • Ajax/Vim in solution
  • Alkalicarbonate solution *
  • Ammonia (<40%) *
